End of summer brings new opportunities to grow in faith, fellowship

Family Fun Day and the start of a Year of Spirituality: Living the Gospel at Holy Cross

The summer's heat and humidity have not detered Holy Cross parishioners from doing some serious planning for the coming year.

The parish's Family Fun Day is scheduled for Sunday, September 18, 1 PM - 6 PM on the parish grounds. The planners have lined up music, food, fun activities and plenty of opportunity for fellowship. Save the date on your family's calendar and watch for details in the bulletin and here.

September also marks the return of the popular Wednesday evening Soup 'n Scripture, coordinated by the Holy Cross Spirituality Committee. All are welcome to participate in this opportunity to read and reflect on the coming Sunday's scripture reading and join in a discsussion of the readings and fellowship over the communal pot of soup. (Bring a can of veggies to contribute to the soup.)

Soup 'n Scripture is one of many opportunities the parish's Spirituality Committee has developed to help us all "grow together in faith." This Franciscan Year of Spirituality at Holy Cross includes presentations on various aspects of faith, a remembrance of the passing of St. Francis of Assissi from this life to God, a contemplative prayer hike, a service project, a retreat and more. Check out the full schedule for our Year of Spirituality and add a few of the events to your faith journey calendar for the coming year.

Jeanetta Hopkins, director of faith formation at Holy Cross, is putting finshing touches on another great year of faith formation. Watch for details soon.
