Holy Cross hosted the Peace Lab Vacation Bible Camp, July 18-22.
Holy Cross's Hospitality ministry provided a wonderful meal for our VBC participants.
Deacon Phil (playing the role of Peter) and Camp Counselor Jonah Bernier, performed seveal vignettes showing how people in the Bible resolved conflicts. In this scene, 'Peter' - in the character of Abram, resolved a conflict with Lot regarding the allocation of land resources for their herds of sheep.
Fr. Pius stopped by to check in with the campers ... and learned that they were having a great time, learning how to solve conflict peacefully, to create art, and much more.
All participants learned the Peace Camp song.
VBC campers (2022) gave a joyful ending to the Peace Camp song that they sang at the end of the 10 AM Mass on Sunday, July 24, in honor of all Grandparents on Grandparents Day.
Children were a great help when they dug in and planted vegetables in the. Holy Cross Sharing Garden. Children are welcome to come back and help with tending the garden and harvesting (when accompanied by parents or guardians).
NC Extension Agents offered seeds, composting and other gardening information at our 2022 Earth Day Festival
David Kirkpatrick managed the Solar Station, including a demonstration of how a solar oven works. He shared the cookies that he baked at the festival. He also showed a mockup of a rooftop solar panel display for the parish that the parish is exploring.
Mass, drummers, a food truck, a bouncy house, chess, African jewelry merchandise, and lots of friendly conversation - all part of the Juneteenth 2022 celebration hosted by Holy Cross. The event began with the celebration of Sunday Mass.
