Help to Make a Difference | Join the 49th Annual Durham CROP Hunger Walk - as a walker or a donor, or both.

The needs of the hungry in and around the City of Durham and worldwide are greater than ever. The annual Durham CROP Hunger Walk helps to make a difference.

Holy Cross had great youth and adult participation last year; let's do it again this year. Invite friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers to join you in this fun, family-friendly event with music and educational activities for all ages. Those in your circle of friends and colleagues can help in this cause by donating in your name, or joining you on the Holy Cross team and soliciting pledges of their own.

Scriptural Reference

Matthew 25: 35 https://bible.usccb.org/bible/matthew/25

Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me. .... ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’

Background

The Crop Project began in 1947 when farmers were asked to donate food and seed crops to our hungry neighbors in post-World War II Europe and Asia. The first CROP Hunger Walks took place in Bismarck, North Dakota (1969), and York, Pennsylvania (1970). Since then, CROP Hunger Walk events have been held in hundreds of communities, large and small, raising millions of dollars to eradicate hunger and poverty.

Get Involved

Hunger is one of the greatest injustices facing our world, but it doesn’t have to be this way. Ending hunger is possible in our lifetime. You can help make it happen. Register for our local CROP Hunger Walk, and raise funds in support of your participation. Your involvement will take us one step closer to ending hunger once and for all.

You can help this cause by donating in support of one or more of our Holy Cross CROP Hunger Walk team members, or by joining the team as a walker and soliciting donations in your name. Our team is starting to grow; check back periodically to see who else has signed up and make a donation to support their walk or sign up and start collecting donations for your participation. The annual Durham CROP Hunger Walk raises funds that help to fight hunger locally and globally. Participants ask friends and relatives to make a donation in the name of the person walking the path, which takes about two hours. They also can ask their employers to provide corporate support.
